Dr. Muhammad Zaman

Dr. Zaman earned his Ph.D. Sociology (2009) from the University of Leipzig, Germany, Post-Doctorate (2011) from the University of Warsaw, Poland, and another Post-Doctorate in 2015 from Zurich University Switzerland. He was awarded the DAAD Ph.D. fellowship at the University of Leipzig, Germany, and the ERASMUS MUNDUS Fellowship for Post-Doc at the University of Warsaw, Poland. He is also the winner of the Swiss Excellence Scholarship 2014-2015. Currently, he is a Professor of Sociology and teaching at the School of Sociology, Quaid-i-Azam University Islamabad. Dr. Zaman is the author of two books: Exchange Marriages in South Punjab, Pakistan: A Sociological Analysis of Kinship Structure, Agency, and Symbolic Culture and Youth Politics in Pakistan: Civic Engagement and Opportunity Structure (in press). Besides this, he published 40 research articles in international peer review journals (including impact factor journals). His interdisciplinary interests include the sociology of family youth, childhood, family, and marriage. Dr. Zaman was listed among the top 2% of scientists in 2020. He and his team won the Grand Challenge Fund of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan on Road Safety. Besides this, he is a commentator on social issues in national and international media. Dr. Zaman write in the 92 Newspaper weekly.
